it was trial and error, basically you set the tripod up, and waited....and waited..... Then basically for a fraction of time about 1 second or less you have enough time to hit the capture button. sometimes they would be around alot....still trying to find out why they arent around this year.

Hopefully I can get a picture of a hummingbird sticking its long tounge out to lick the nectar.

also depends on the type of camera being used and the settings on it. i just recently got a Nikon D40 and the options are great i can control shutter speed and do continous burst of pics( i think 2.5 fps? per second, anyways really nice pics of the birds !
