Hoboken man's convertible needs over $4,000 in repairs after $3 theft

A Hoboken man needed over $4,000 of repairs on his car after $3 in change was stolen from the vehicle, police said.
On Oct. 13 between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m., $3 in change was stolen from the man's 2001 BMW after a square was cut into its convertible top while it was parked at 718 Park Ave., reports said.
Repairs to the vehicle cost a total of $4,193.80, reports said.
A string of auto burglaries in October - including several in which convertibles were accessed in a similar way - led Hoboken police to warn residents and visitors to not leave valuables in their car to reduce the likelihood of burglary and theft.
