$32M spent so far to replace former Montgomery psychiatric facility with park was created by EsseXploreR
A park will replace a former psychiatric facility in Somerset County that became a favorite haunt of ghost hunters.
Somerset County paid nearly $16 million dollars for Skillman Village in Montgomery Township on Tuesday.
Plans call for transforming the 250-acre tract into Skillman Park.
The land was once home to the New Jersey Village for Epileptics, which was founded in 1898. It became the New Jersey Neuro-Psychiatric Institute in 1953 and was the North Princeton Developmental Center until 1998.
Montgomery spent more than $16 million to tear down 100 buildings, including a morgue, hospital and power plant.
