Dad: Baby with 1 scratch after SUV lands atop crib
RICHMOND, Ky., Mon Mar 07, 07:28 PM
The father of a baby girl says the Kentucky infant survived with just a scratch on the head after a sport utility vehicle crashed into her room and came to rest atop her crib.
Kenneth Enright told Lexington station WKYT-TV that the SUV barely missed his 10-month-old daughter when it crashed Monday morning into his home in Kirksville, central Kentucky.
Enright says the Toyota 4-Runner tore a gaping hole through a wall and he quickly ran into the room where he heard his daughter crying. He says he found the infant just inches away from the SUV's front tire and adds she had her hands up "like, get me out of here."
Authorities say it appeared the driver lost control, adding the crash is considered an accident.
Ore. gas station worker escapes from crashing car
SPRINGFIELD, Ore., Mon Mar 07, 06:20 PM
An Oregon gas station worker escaped serious injury when a car came crashing through a wall and into the cashier stand.
The unidentified worker was sweeping the floor inside the station in Springfield when an entire wall suddenly came down on top of him early Saturday.
The manager of the AM PM Mini Market, Casey Wilson, told KEZI-TV that the worker could have been seriously hurt if the car had moved just another foot. The worker was treated at a hospital and released.
In a video of the crash, the worker climbs out of all the debris and hurdles over the counter to get to safety.
Wilson says the driver was circling the parking lot and having an argument with his female companion when the crash occurred.
Va. firefighter accused of taking drunken joyride
HAMILTON, Va., Sun Mar 06, 04:01 PM
Authorities in Virginia say a volunteer firefighter is accused of taking a fire truck on a drunken joyride and nearly smashing into a deputy's patrol car.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's office says in a press release that 27-year-old Sean Richard Swanson, a volunteer firefighter in Hamilton, was speeding down a road early Saturday morning in the fire truck. The sheriff's office says four other volunteer firefighters who also had been drinking were in the truck with Swanson.
The release says a deputy had to veer into a ditch to avoid hitting the truck.
The deputy turned around and pulled over the truck. Swanson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
A phone message left at a listing for Swanson was not immediately returned Sunday
