Two men were arrested early Tuesday at the old Essex County Hospital Center in Cedar Grove and charged with burglary and theft, the Essex County Sheriff's Office reported.

Officers said they found copper pipe, stolen government license plates and tools in the car, which was parked behind building no. 4. The building is located at 125 Fairview Ave.

The officers were on routine patrol when they spotted the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria about 1 a.m., according to a report.

The driver, Jordan Kock, 21, and his passenger, Lance Bohrisch, 31, were charged with defiant trespass.

The car's trunk was open and officers searched its contents, seizing a large pipe cutter, hammer, two hacksaws and four 50-inch sections of copper pipe, weighing a total of 14 pounds. They also found two stolen county government license plates and a wallet belonging to a Cedar Knolls resident.

Officers found four flashlights, three handheld radios and a second pipe cutter in the passenger compartment of the car, according to the report.
