A quick walk through the woods on a great day outside. Trails leading down to the tunnel are very easy hiking. About a half mile from where You park to the cut-off, which runs through the tunnel.
First, lets get a view looking west from the top.
1.
Right behind this spot is one of many old telegraph poles
2.
Easy trail to walk.
3.
Lets grab a HDR picture on the way down.
4.
Don't worry about these signs.
5.
Now, once passing those signs, You will be presented with a view similar to this.
6.
Moving closer.
7.
Seems a rock slide taken place since last time I was here.
8.
Once walking in, I noticed 2 things. Water dripping from the ceiling and large pieces of ice falling down every few minutes.
Looking back.
9.
A little further.
10.
From here, I made my way through, dodging falling ice, large puddles and ice formations formed by falling water and refreezing.
11.
About half way through, the builders determined the rock above was unstable and needed to brace it with concrete. This concrete today is in need of much repair.
12.
Made my way to the other side.
13.
On my way back through, I was a bit more comfortable stopping for pics as I now knew where the ice was falling from.
14.
No trains running on here, at least for now.
15.
Best shot in the tunnel, IMO.
16.
Almost back out to where I started.
17.
Back out in the open, looking east.
18.
A quick walk back up the trail back to my car, but not before stopping here and relaxing a bit.
