PARSIPPANY -- "House," an Emmy-winning television show that filmed in April at the massive old Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital was back again today.

Crews of the popular Fox TV medical drama remade the outside of the abandoned state hospital into the fictional "Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital." In April, the medical drama shot background scenes there.

"They're here for followup shots, shooting outside," said Ellen Lovejoy, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Human Services that operates Greystone.

"House," starring Hugh Laurie, celebrated its 100th episode in February. The filming at Greystone, as it was in April, was done on a closed set, Lovejoy said.

Greystone dates to 1876, when it opened as a state-of-the-art mental health facility. It eventually became a nearly half-million-square-foot ruin. Only the old hospital's center portion housing administrators remained open in recent years, but it was abandoned last year when a new Greystone opened nearby.

Just what to do with the eerie old structure is being mulled over by historians, local and county officials and the state Treasury Department, which now holds title to it.

Greystone previously was a setting for the film "Marvin's Room" in the mid-1990s, when Meryl Streep and Leonardo DiCaprio came there for three days of shooting."
